.Costa Rica 2022.

Contrary to the Monthly Collective description, all of these photos were taken on Disposables. Armed with 4 cameras my goal was to capture memories and have physical copies - in turn, two years later and finally getting around to having them developed, it sparked an interest and new hobby. I wanted to continue capturing more memories, just like our parents have scrapbooks and shoeboxes full of physical memories. Additionally, it would force a departure from the phone and socials. Harbouring fotos I’m not as inclined to share and much less inclined to do anything with - just exist and fade on the cloud. The trip was one for the books, 3 buds, a rental, clique-cliques*, Guaro con Jet and some new friends along the way.
We started in San Jose, headed south-west to Manuel Antonio, up the western coastline toward Jaco, and then onward and upward into the Cloud Forests of La Fortuna/Arenal & Monteverde. Cruising the long and sometimes rugged gravel roadways enjoying the scenery of the Abangares Region. The most notable experience was the rigorous ascent to the crater basin of Cerro Chato. By far the most grueling hike - pure jungle - 1.5km climb roughly 2 hours through slick rainfall carved paths enduring intermittent rain as the muddy water flowed past our feet. Only to then climb down another questionably steep 0.3km to reach the emerald basin for a cool dip - totaling a patient 3.6km roundtrip. Through and through we met some great locals and fellow travelers. The last photo of the trip is a sunset, first night in Tamarindo.
