~ Tragically Hip(shot) ~
Banged out a lot of street this month. Didn’t feel like much accumulation at the time, but Somehow I ended up with about 15 rolls to sift through. Upon review I believe I had been too comfortable and perhaps didn’t excel or achieve frames I’m overly excited about. I was running a hefty 800-1600 ISO snd steady f16 on my 28mm shooting about 98% hip. The viewfinder and myself were not seeing eye to eye… my biggest challenge has been shooting Junior A Lacrosse, indoors on film, restricted by the boards and glass means constantly changing lenses, shooting high ISO and a depth of field on a razor for fast action. I’m really there to support a good buddy coaching and it’s just great to get back in the barns and watch some hometown sports. I’m writing this in June, so I’d like to think I’m going to shake things up for the next blog and get uncomfortable and start finding some new scenes to frame up. But for now, enjoy what May had to offer!

Always be Pushing
Alright, getting RIGHT into it—just a massive amount of BW mixed street and into Colour to end off the M35mm.
You thought the Sakura was done? Me too, but allow me to throw some more flowers your way. These Plumb blossoms were stunning at High Park, my girl and I layed beneath them for quite a while, just basking in their beauty. I also was messing with my scans. Created some multi-slide images, brainstorming for the next printed work.
Touching up with some Junior A Lacrosse. I’ve been travelling to the away games and took a stab at shooting film indoors. Im pushing to 1600 and swapping between 28mm/50mm/135mm lenses on the fly. Shooting sports is much difficult than I expected—even knowing the sport—the decisive moment matters much more here. I’ve got a couple more rolls coming in June so we’ll see if there is any progression. It’s just great to get back in the Barns and watch the youth play with pride for their hometown and cheer on St Catharine’s again.
Annnnnd we’re back into the streets! Up at St Clair West/Regal Heights, I actually shot a blank roll this day. Lost sleep for a night—rattled about the shots I lost. A church service had just started and I loaded some Kentmere ready to step into the scene, the people were friendly and I actually connected with the priest for a moment and was able to capture some images alongside the patrons. However, my need to load the roll with haste caused for a lapse in judgment. Either way, its the action and connection that counts when working on that charismatic muscle for street photography and positivity.
