~ you win some, you dim sum ~

This Monthly 35mm starts off with a lil’ exposure innuendo ~ you win some you dim sum. Gotta stay loose as April was the kind of month where the city was trying to shake off winter’s chill, and I shook off a little rust. Long walks, friends, and stolen street scenes — the kind that make me remember why I carry a camera in the first place.

I learned two things this month: First, my point-and-shoot does not like experimental film stock. Second, I still need to push my own boundaries. Coming off last month’s reflections, I’ve been thinking a lot about what’s holding my attention these days — I’ve been shooting with my 50mil lens, that is unforgiving on focus, and forces me to pause, frame, and click.

When the last roll was still out for development, I wasn’t as excited to share this month’s collection as I had hoped to be. But isn’t it funny how one roll can change your mind at the eleventh hour? That sudden reminder — you’ve still got it, whatever it even is.

In the end I’m happy with how this month came together, so don’t bail early — scroll all the way to the end! There’s some great shots, maybe some of the best scenes April gifted me.
